Two quotations for the same building can differ widely, and the difference is rarely just profit margin. Knowing the cost drivers helps you compare properly.
Camera count and type
Cameras are the obvious cost. IP cameras cost more than analogue but deliver better detail and scale more cleanly.
Recording and storage
Longer retention and higher resolution both mean more storage, which is a real line item rather than an afterthought.
Cabling and labour
Neat, properly routed cabling takes time. This is usually where the cheapest quotation saved its money, and where you notice it later.
- Number and type of cameras
- Recorder capacity and retention period
- Cable runs and building complexity
- Power and backup requirements
- Warranty and after-sales support
